Day 14

Back in Radiotherapy for my 08:45 session followed by an appointment with the dietician and speech therapist.

Today's automotive musings on the drive down to hospital. 

Abarth - puts a smile on my face, every low speed corner and tight curve. It grips like a limpet and goes like an angry wasp.

Seicento - I need to get the bumper off for light repairs and at the same time adjust the clutch a bit so Luke gets a better shot at gear changes. I also have gear box oil to change and gear linkages to lubricate. Unfortunately the rubbish weather a couple  of weeks ago was my window for doing the work as now I'm not so full of energy. 

X1/9 - same weather related problem here, it passed the MOT but on the same day a brake line was found to be leaking. I have disks, pads and brake lines to fit and bleed before I can use it. That would really bring a smile to my face. 

For the X1/9 and Seicento jobs I'd really like to get them out on the drive for all round access but need it to be dry.

 As it turned out I only saw Margaret the Macmillan Nurse today, she gave me a prescription for a pain killing oral sprat. This takes my medication up to about 1,000,000 different items.  

As it happened it was dry this afternoon so I managed to get the Seicento bumper off, adjust the clutch and change the gearbox oil. I'll hopefully prep and paint it over the weekend.

      Oh yes, I did get the bumper done on Sunday, just needs refitting now.

Friday 15th March 2024 Into the city again to UCLH for my 3rd post treatment PET scan.  Same as before, injected with the radioactive trace, an hour of rest whilst it circulates then a full body plus a specific head and neck scan.  Takes about an hour and a half from start to finish. As I'm now back at work 5 days a week I went over to Aldgae and spent the rest of the day on the office. Now sat on a train at Liverpool St commuting home, like the old times..... I have a telephone appointment next Thursday so should get the result then.

The story so far

Back in July last year after a bout of COVID I noticed a lump in my neck that I thought nothing much of, putting it down to glands related to the infection. The lump wasn't painful, and I didn't really notice it for a while. In October it became noticeably firmer, and I contacted my GP for an opinion. They sent me off to an ENT specialist who in turn sent me for (in no particular order), an ultrasound scan, an x-ray, MRI and CAT scans along with several blood tests. In early December I had a biopsy of the lump and was sent for a PET scan on 7th December. This needed to be done at University College Hospital on the Euston Road in London. On 14th we had a meeting with a specialist who told me the lump in my lymph node was a secondary cancer and the next step was to identify the primary. 4th Check Up PET Scan

17th June 2024 Back at UCLH three months after the last scan. Nothing major to report, still get tired more than usual, dry mouth overnight and still not 100% on the taste of Cadburys Fruit and Nut.  My lymph node has been steadily shrinking over the course of the last three scans and nothing i have felt has made me believe that's not still ongoing. We'll find out later this week. Fingers crossed everything will run to time, I got bumped from Friday last week as one of the machines was down. It is busier in Nuclear Medicine reception than it has been before.
